“Today, we would like to give you some information on an upcoming addition to Our genre pages with two new bass categories — 140 / Deep Dubstep / Grime and Bass / Club — and an update to Our existing Breaks section, now Breaks / Breakbeat / UK Bass. we are always striving to bolster our genres in order to offer the best user experience to our customers.
After collecting feedback from various labels, DJs, distributors, artists, and dance music communities alike, Beatport has decided that the following changes will make it easier for customers to locate tracks faster and discover new sounds while enabling artists and labels to track the success of their latest releases. Each of these new sections will also include a Top 100 Chart.
To help improve our service, the store’s Leftfield House / Techno, Leftfield Bass, and Reggae / Dancehall / Dub sections will cease to exist. The releases currently living on these pages will be relocated amongst our three new bass genres accordingly.
With redefining the Breaks section as Breaks / Breakbeat / UK Bass, Beatport hopes to bring more exposure to the increasingly popular use of broken-beats and low-end experimentation in dance music.
By expanding our Dubstep page to include a new 140 / Deep Dubstep / Grime categorization, Beatport will bring further distinction to sonic creations that call back the old-school UK origins of the Dubstep genre and continue to innovate 140 BPM sound system culture worldwide.
The new Club / Bass page on Beatport will promote the more niche genres of dance music that deserve further visibility but are currently not large enough to warrant their own standalone sections — consolidating the sounds of Juke / Footwork, Jersey Club, GQOM, UK Funky, Global Club, and Reggae / Dancehall sound system culture under an all-encompassing banner.
Bass / Club is a curated section, which means we will not accept any deliveries in this genre.
Please note that our Garage / Bassline / Grime section is changing to UK Garage / Bassline. For submissions to this genre, please use the updated XML below.
You can find more delivery information on Beatport’s genres and subgenres in our FAQs.”
